Email Marketing for Education

Published

Education teams send constantly — course enrollments, onboarding sequences, weekly newsletters, event invitations, parent communications, and certificate announcements. Temway helps schools, course platforms, and edtech teams build polished emails fast and export the final HTML into whatever ESP runs their automations.

The challenge

Education communications tend to break down in three places:

  • Brand drift across departments and faculty — admissions, alumni relations, individual departments, and course instructors each build their own emails, so colors, fonts, and spacing slowly diverge between sends.
  • Broken layouts in Gmail and Outlook on mobile — students and parents check email on their phones, and a flyer that looks right in the editor can collapse or shift in the inbox.
  • Slow hand-offs to developers — every layout tweak, new announcement block, or footer change becomes a ticket against a developer’s backlog.

On top of that, the academic calendar is relentless. Enrollment windows, term starts, exam periods, and graduation each bring a wave of emails that line up back-to-back, and there’s rarely time to rebuild from scratch.

How Temway helps

Visual builder for the whole team

The drag-and-drop builder lets anyone on your team assemble emails from configurable blocks — sections, columns, text, images, buttons, social links, video, dividers, and spacers — without writing code. Faculty, administrators, and marketing staff can open a draft, rearrange the layout, rewrite copy, and preview the result in real time. Desktop and mobile views can be toggled inline so you catch responsive issues before you export. A fast way to start is the New Student Welcome template — fork it, swap in your brand, and the first onboarding email is ready in minutes.

Brand consistency via workspace branding

Each workspace holds a shared branding profile — school or platform colors, custom fonts, and logo — that every email inherits. Build your institutional palette once, and your enrollment confirmations, weekly newsletters, and parent updates all draw from the same visual source of truth, no matter which department built them. Custom fonts are available on every plan, including Free. See Branding for the full setup.

Reusable layouts

Build a course-announcement header, a parent-update footer, or an event-invitation block once, then reuse it across campaigns. Layouts are lifetime totals per workspace — 100 on Free, unlimited on Starter, Pro, and Max — so each polished template becomes a foundation for the next term’s send. See Layouts for how to assemble and reuse them.

Version history

Every publish saves a versioned snapshot you can restore in one step. Caps per email are 3 on Free, 10 on Starter, and 100 on Pro and Max. That makes it safe to experiment with a bolder term-start layout or a redesigned course announcement — if it doesn’t land well, restoring the previous version puts you back where you were before the next send. See Version history for the full flow.

A typical campaign mix

Most education teams build a recurring set of emails that share branding and layouts:

  1. Course enrollment confirmation and welcome — sent the moment a student enrolls, confirms the registration, links to the learning portal, and sets expectations for what comes next.
  2. Weekly or monthly newsletter — department updates, upcoming deadlines, student spotlights, and campus or platform news. The Classroom Weekly — Education template is a ready-made starting point.
  3. Event invitation — webinars, open houses, orientation sessions, and graduation, with a clear date, location, and RSVP call-to-action.
  4. Re-engagement — nudges for lapsed students, incomplete courses, or alumni who haven’t opened an update in a while.

Each of these is built from the same branding and shared layouts, exported as HTML, and dropped into your ESP’s automation flow or audience segment. Temway builds the email; your ESP handles the sends, the targeting, and the timing.

How it ships

Temway is a builder and exporter, not an ESP. The workflow is:

  1. Design the email in the visual builder.
  2. Export the rendered HTML, which is built to render consistently across Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail — the clients students and parents actually open.
  3. Paste the HTML into your ESP — Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, Customer.io, or whichever provider runs your campaigns and automations.

Before exporting, use in-app test sends to verify the email in a real inbox. Test sends are rate-limited per user on a rolling 24-hour window — 5 per day on Free, 20 on Starter, 50 on Pro, and 100 on Max. Anything that needs audience targeting, course-progress logic, or personalization stays in your ESP; Temway is the design and export step. See Export and HTML for the full export flow.

Results

Teams that move email production into Temway typically see:

  • Faster campaign turnaround — announcements and onboarding sequences ship in minutes instead of waiting on a developer.
  • Consistent brand — every department and course draws from one shared brand profile, no matter who built the email.
  • Reliable mobile rendering — exported HTML holds up across Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail, where students and parents actually read.
  • Safer experiments — version history means a bolder term-start variant is one click to undo if it underperforms.

Free-tier workspaces carry a “Designed with Temway” badge; upgrading to Starter or above removes it and unlocks higher volume caps across workspaces, emails, exports, and team members. See plans and pricing for the full comparison.
